Choctaw Cultural Center Celebrates 5th Anniversary

Cultural Center offers special activities July 23-25

DURANT, Okla. – The Choctaw Cultural Center will celebrate its 5th Anniversary July 23 through July 25 with three days of special demonstrations, classes, contests, and more honoring 14,000 years of Choctaw history and culture.

Since opening its doors on July 23, 2021, the 100,000 square foot center has welcomed more than 100,000 visitors from 44 states and five countries. The anniversary celebration invites the public to experience the living traditions, artistry, and stories that define the Choctaw people.

Anniversary Weekend Highlights:

Art market with original works by Choctaw artists and crafts people
Social dancing
Stickball demonstrations and an evening stickball tournament
Tours of the Cultural Center’s new bison herd
Traditional cooking workshops
Opening of “Where We Gather” the newest exhibit with curator talks throughout the weekend.
