Choctaw Cultural Center tells 14,000 year story

The much-anticipated opening of the Choctaw Cultural Center is scheduled for July 23. The Cultural Center, located on Highway 75 in Durant, Oklahoma, uses interactive and immersive exhibits and cutting-edge technology to tell the story of the Choctaw people, which spans over 14,000 years.

The handles on the doors of the Choctaw Cultural Center are made in the image of stickball sticks. Those doors of Chahta Nowvt Aya, the "Choctaw Journey," are closer each day to opening wide for visitors expected from around the world.

Choctaw Nation Unveils Plans for Cultural Center

A ground breaking ceremony was held in Durant with more than two hundred people in attendance, including the Choctaw Nation Tribal Council, tribal elders and officials from the Chickasaw Nation, City of Durant and Bryan County.
