Two Exhibits to Open at Choctaw Cultural Center Anniversary

DURANT, Okla. – When the opening ceremony kicks off the Choctaw Cultural Center’s 5^th Anniversary at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 23, two new exhibits will contribute to the celebration.

WHAT: “The 5th Anniversary Photo Exhibit,” a retrospective of the photographs from the first half decade of the Cultural Center, will show highlights since its ribbon cutting ceremony on July 23, 2021.

“Hvpim Aiittvfama – Where We Gather: The Choctaw Nation Labor Day Festival” features archival documents, historic photographs, artwork, maps, and three-dimensional objects of Choctaw gatherings, including the annual Labor Day Festival. The 85 pieces date from 1884 through 2025 and help tell the story of how the festival has evolved over generations.

WHEN: Opening Ceremony for the Choctaw Cultural Center’s 5^th Anniversary will be 10:30-11 a.m. Thursday, July 23.

“The 5th Anniversary Photo Exhibit” opens Thursday, July 23. “Where We Gather” opens to the public Friday, July 24. They will remain on display for continued viewing after the Center’s anniversary weekend of July 23-25.

WHERE: The Choctaw Cultural Center, 1919 Hina Hanta Way, Durant, Okla.

WHO: The public is invited to view both exhibits and join the Choctaw Cultural Center’s 5^th Anniversary Celebration.

HOW: Regular ticket prices apply to enter the Choctaw Cultural Center, including complimentary admission for Choctaw Tribal Members and those with Cultural Center memberships.
